Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Wusthof Grand Prix II 7-Inch Cook's KnifeCustomer Review: Great All-Purpose Knife Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this knife for my husband who is much more savvy in the kitchen than I. He wanted a good quality knife that would work for most things (vs. a knife for each type of food). He is extremely happy with this knife and feels the quality to be terrific.
Description of Wusthof Grand Prix II 7-Inch Cook's KnifeWusthof has been making the finest knives in the world for over 190 years. Through excellent craftsman ship and engineering the Grand Prix2 knife line has become one of the finest knife lines in the world. Made by skilled craftsman in Solingen Germany these fine knives are precision forged out a single piece of the finest steel. This Grand Prix2 7-inch Cooks knife is the perfect cutting and chopping of meats and vegetables. The cooks knife is the most often used knife in the kitchen. One of the kitchen?s most useful knives, this seven-inch cook?s knife chops carrots, minces garlic, and cuts through a pineapple with ease. A rigid blade and a slight curve enable the knife to be used with the economic rocking motion that most chefs prefer. Wusthof?s Grand Prix2 knives differ slightly from the original Grand Prix line in that they feature a redesigned handle with more ergonomic curve and a squared-off end. Contemporary in look, the pebble-grain synthetic handle is molded over an extended tang for a sure, comfortable grip. Because there is less steel in the tang, a Grand Prix2 cook?s knife offers slightly less heft than its Classic counterpart, yet more than the trim Le Cordon Bleu. All are beautifully balanced. Like all Grand Prix and Classic knives, the cook?s knife is precision forged from a single piece of high-carbon, stain-resistant steel. The blade has been impeccably ground, tapered, and polished, and its edge laser-tested for uniformity. After repeated use, the edge may be easily resharpened using a sharpening steel. Though the knife is dishwasher-safe, Wusthof recommends hand-washing all fine cutlery. Made in Germany, the knife is fully guaranteed to be free of defects in materials and/or craftsmanship. --Ann Bieri
