Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Wusthof Grand Prix 4-3/4-Inch Hard Cheese KnifeCustomer Review: Excellent hard knife. Summary: 5 Stars
I'm very happy with all of Wusthof's knives, this one does the job and goes great with my other knives. If you are asking, do I really need a hard cheese knife?, perhaps you might not. But I eat quite a bit of cheese and it's nice to have a dedicated knife - it cuts the hardest of cheeses as thin or thick as you'd like.
Description of Wusthof Grand Prix 4-3/4-Inch Hard Cheese KnifeThe Hard cheese knife cuts through dense cheese with ease. One of Wüsthof?s top-shelf models, the Grand Prix knife is precision-forged--blade, bolster, and tang--from a single piece of high-carbon, stain-resistant steel. The blade is tested by lasers and honed by hand, with computer-controlled front-to-back tapering, grinding, and polishing. Wüsthof permanently bonds the blade to a molded, pebble-grained black handle with a slip-resistant grip. The tang of the knife runs almost the full-length of the handle to ensure proper balance and durability. Crafted for incredible sharpness and precision, Grand Prix knives offer the excellent use and long life that Wüsthof blades are known for. Designed specifically for hard cheeses, this 4-3/4-inch Grand Prix knife combines a durable blade with a maneuverable size, making it suitable for firm cheeses like Emmenthal and aged cheddar. The flared and forked tip is perfect for spearing slices or cubes, and the knife makes a nice set in combination with the Grand Prix soft cheese blade. Like the rest of the Grand Prix line, this knife can go in the dishwasher but should be washed by hand for the best results. --Emily Bedard
