A gorgeous set with an unusual storage block, this 12-piece Culinar collection offers a wide range of cutting edges and shapes. The set includes an 8-inch cook?s knife, an 8-inch carving knife, an 8-inch bread knife, a 7-inch santoku knife, a 6-inch sandwich knife, a 5-inch serrated tomato/salami knife, a 5-inch boning knife, a 4-inch utility knife, and a 3-1/2-inch parer. Rounding out the set are a 6-inch straight fork and a 9-inch sharpening steel for upkeep of the blades. Constructed from satin-finish stainless steel and wood, the included knife block holds every piece in the set at a convenient angle and cuts a contemporary figure on the countertop. Though these knives are technically safe in the dishwasher, Wüsthof recommends hand-washing them for optimum results --Emily Bedard
