I got this set from Macys.. I loved the choices of knives it has and the block with more slots. Only complaint is the Chef's knife is too big for a short person like me (it's 8 inch). Otherwise this set is worth having for the price.
Description of Wusthof Classic 7-Piece Block Set
Wusthof the knife makers to the world since 1814. This set of precision forged cutlery is made of the finest German high carbon nostain steel. This set includes 3.3" parer, 4.5" utility, 8" bread knife, 8" cooks, Kitchen Shear, Sharpening steel, 9 slot block.This seven-piece set gets a cutlery collection started on the right track while leaving room to add more pieces in the future. Providing excellent control for average-sized hands, the 8-inch cook?s knife performs the majority of the chopping and mincing tasks in the kitchen. The 8-inch serrated bread knife cuts through a crusty loaf with ease, while the 4-1/2-inch utility knife will become a well-loved tool for smaller cutting tasks, such as slicing garlic or fruit. Finally, the 3-1/2-inch paring knife is perfect for peeling apples or hulling strawberries. A 9-inch sharpening steel keeps knife edges sharp and a pair of kitchen shears cuts herbs, poultry, or packaging. The 17-slot oak block holds all knives with room to spare for six steak knives and five other cutlery acquisitions.
Part of Wüsthof?s popular Classic line of cutlery, these knives have a very traditional design. Blades are hand-forged from a single piece of high-carbon steel so they retain their sharp edges longer and are easier to resharpen, plus they include a stain-resistant alloy. Blades are also ground and polished by computer to ensure perfect tapering from tip to bolster. A signature feature of Wusthof knives, the weighted bolster gives these knives the perfect heft.
